Admission of Huaiyin Institute of Technology For International Students（2018）

Huaiyin Institute of Technology is an undergraduate institute in Jiangsu province. It is located in Huai'an, a famous historical & cultural city, also known to be the hometown of Zhou Enlai who was the first Premier of the People's Republic of China . HYIT was founded in 1958 and the school began to run bachelor’s degree programs in the year 2000 after being approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE). In 2011, approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, it was authorized to run a Master’s Degree program in Engineering as one of the pilot institutions. It is also one of the pilot institutions of “A Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers” (PETOE) and “A Plan for Excellent Agriculture and Forestry Talent Training Project” (PEAFTTP) .

HYIT has two campuses—Meicheng Road Campus and Beijing Road Campus--- it covers an area of about 2,063 mu (about146 hectares) with a floored space of 590,000 square meters. HYIT consists of 19 faculties and colleges which offer 64 Bachelor Degree programs. There are about 19,000 registered regular and overseas students enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. HYIT has 1,012 full time staff, among whom there are 441 professors and associate professors,  and 902 teachers with a doctorate or master’s degree, 158 advisers for master, 55 enterprise advisers and 11 part-time advisers of doctorate candidates. There are 4 experts for who enjoy special allowance from the State Council, 1 provincial specially appointed professor, 110 candidates for “Provincial Project 333" and other high-level talents projects, 69 bilateral contractual employment high-level talents of “1000 Talents Plan” and “National Outstanding Youth”, 1 provincial teaching team, 5 provincial technical innovation teams.

HYIT has been enhancing the linkage and cooperation with 31 overseas universities. There are about 100 exchange students overseas every year. It has co-cultivated doctorate graduates with Chung-Hua University( Taiwan , China ), I-ShouUniversity( Taiwan , China ), Université de Lorraine ( France ) and Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science ( Japan ). School ofInternational Education has recruited near 160 students from 32 countries.

The admission for international students to HYIT of 2018 has started. For the specifications, please read the following:

1. Admission Type:

Bachelor’s degrees, quotas: 100 students;

Non-degrees have other admissions.

2. Bachelor Programs & Language of Instruction

International Economics & Trade (lectured in Chinese), Software Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Transportation, Bio-engineering, Horticulture and so forth. (For details, see the appendix 1).

The bachelor’s degree courses lectured in Chinese is International Economics & Trade. The applicants who don’t have HSK4 certificate but will study the programs in Chinese must attend 2 semesters’ Chinese language training before starting the majors. Students must pass HSK5 before graduation. The selections of bachelor’s degree courses lectured in English are constrained in Software Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Transportation, Bio-engineering and Horticulture. Students with a certain level of English can directly start the professional study. Horticulture students must pass HSK4 before graduation.

Applicants who have HSK5 certificate may start the majors with Chinese students.

NOTE: Horticulture as the Elite Training Program for Modern and Efficient Horticulture was approved by "Studying in Jiangsu" Talent Selection Program 2018-2019. Both the Jiangsu Provincial Government and Huaiyin Institute of Technology grant scholarships.

3. Mode and Length of Study

Mode: Full-time

HYIT institutes two-semester system: semester is from September to January and semester 2 is from February to July.

Length of Study: Bachelor-4 years.

4. Application procedures

4.1. Eligibility

(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, above the age of 18 and under the age of 25, have attained a senior high school diploma, be in good health condition,  respect Chinese customs and habits, abide by laws and regulations, and have no criminal record.

(2) Applicants should have good academic performance, English and Chinese language proficiency. Applicants for International Economics and Trade should provide HSK2 certificate within expiration date or Chinese language proficiency certificate of the same level. If the applicants from non-English speaking countries apply for majors lectured in English, IELTS transcript with at least 5 points within expiration date or English language proficiency certificate of the same level must be provided.

(3) Applicants for the Horticulture must be from abroad. Applicants for other majors can be from abroad or language training programs students who acquire graduation certificate in China before August 2018.

March 1, 2018 to May 31, 2018

STEP 1: Register account and activate it.

STEP 2: Fill the application on line and upload all required documents as follows:

(1) An electronic 2-inch passport-style photo.

(2) Copy of your valid passport. (the photo page)

(3) Copy of your original highest degree certificate and certified copies in Chinese or English.

(4) Copy of your original highest degree transcript and certified copies in Chinese or English.

(5) Copy of original HSK certificate and certified copies in Chinese or English.

(6) Copy of original IELTS certificate or English proficiency certificate. (English-lectured majors applicants must provide)

(7) Copy of original medical report and certified copies in Chinese or English.

(8) Copy of original certificate of non-criminal record and certified copies in Chinese or English.

(9) Personal statement (500 words above, in Chinese or English). ( Horticulture major applicants ONLY)

(10) Two letters of recommendation from a high-level administrator and a senior teacher from the school where you obtained the highest degree. ( Horticulture major applicants ONLY)

STEP 3: Submit the application and note the your applicant number.

STEP 4: Check your admission regularly.

STEP 5: Admission notice will be sent through e-mail after successful verification.

STEP 6: Pay application deposit RMB5000 (The deposit will waive your registration fee RMB 300, books fee RMB800, insurance fee RMB600, accommodation fee RMB3000 and health check fee RMB300) to confirm your seat to the following accounts:

STEP 7: Admission documents (“Admission notice” and “JW202/JW201”) will be posted by

a courier services company.

STEP 8: Apply for Chinese Visa by yourself and register in HYIT on time.

NOTE:

(1) Always mention your application number when making enquire with us.

(2) Your study or work experiences in the form must be complete & continuous until the current year.

(3) Ensure that all information and documents submitted/uploaded are factual and legible.

5. Approval, Notification and Enrollment:

5.1. HYIT will organize a committee to review all the application materials and release the list of matriculated students.

5.2 After that, HYIT send the students the Pre-admission Notice and Payment notice of deposit by E-mail.

5.3 After receiving applicants’ deposits, HYIT will send them the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China for “X1” visa application in the Chinese embassy. All the International students matriculated in HYIT are responsible for their visa application on their own.

5.4. Enrollment: September 2018. The definite date will be informed on Admission Notice. All the matriculated students should register in HYIT on time according to the Admission Notice. Registration can only be delayed for acceptable reasons and for no more than 15 days with prior permission from HYIT. Those who fail to register before the end of the grace period without proper reasons will be considered to abandon the admission.

Major: Horticulture

Introduction: As the pilot program of “A Plan for Excellent Agriculture and Forestry Talent Training Project” (PEAFTTP), Horticulture relies on key discipline of the crop science. There are 5 scientific research platforms established, including Jiangsu Plant Production and Manufacturing Practice Education Center and Jiangsu Bioengineering Training Center. Faculty of life science & food engineering also co-builds Land Reclamation Practice and Teaching Platform with Jiangsu Huai'an National Agricultural Science Technology Park. Over the past five years, Faculty of life science & food engineering has undertaken 48 scientific national research projects and won 10 provincial-level scientific awards. Over 80 research results have been applied in practice and promoted.

Scholarship standards: covering tuition fees (RMB 13,000/year), accommodation fee (RMB 3,000/year), books fee (RMB 800/year), insurance fee (RMB 600/year) and monthly subsidies (RMB 600/month/student, issued by 10 months every year). 6.2.3. Scholarships of Huaiyin Institute of Technology

In order to attract and encourage outstanding international students. HYIT offers HYIT President Scholarship and Excellent Study Scholarship of Overseas Students in SIE of HYIT. The Presidential Scholarship can waive tuition fees of undergraduate (4 years), which requires international students’ the grades of all courses shall be over 60 and follow the regulations of the HYIT.
